Porbandar's Ramjibhai Rugnath Popat who is well known businessman and Lohana
Mahajan community President for many years have decided to jump in next
month's Gujarat election. Mr. Popat will stand as an independent and says
that he has full support from the community.
Porbandar district under curfew.

Suddenly Porbandar district Collector has decided to put Porbandar district's
coastal area under curfew until 22nd of October. District Collector said
that reason for curfew is to watch out for terrorist organization movement
and to keep an eye on terrorists that may be coming from abroad and landing
around Porbandar coastal area. Until 22nd of October no one will be allowed
to go anywhere near sea side within 500 meter after 11 PM to 5 AM. District
Collector said that anyone who breaks the law and caught will have to pay
1000 Rupees find and 1 month prison sentence. This type of curfew has taken
place first time in 200 years in an Indian history, curfew will effects
24 towns and villages that are near sea side that includes Porbandar, Visavada,
Miyani, Harshad, Odadar and Madhavpur. Even coastal highway from Miyani
to Madhavpur will be effected as this highway falls within 500 meter of
the sea side in some part. In Porbandar City areas like Kharvavad, Salatvada,
Vhoravada and Bhoyvada are also inside 500 meter of the sea side and will
affect to the people who lives in the area as festivals like Navratri, Sharad
poonam, Diwali and New year comes before 22nd October. Porbandar's Rajya
yuva Congress president MR. Ramdevbhai Modhvadiya, social worker MR. G.R.Tukadiya,
MR. Dinesh Thanky and BJP leader MR. Jayesh Savjani have requested district
Collector to make some changes and make the area free zone during the festivals.
This type of curfew has been ordered after Akshardham incident happened
in Gandhinagar on 24th of September.
Porbandar district joins India bandh.

Most of the Indian Cities were shut today as Vishvahindu Parishad called
for India Bandh in respect of those who died in the terrorist attack on
Swaminarayan Mandir Akshardham in Gandhinagar. In respect Porbandar joined
as well, in Kutiyana city everyone gathered at Baba Balakram mandir and
paid their respect with 2 minutes silence. After 2 minutes silence everyone
join with Shiv Sena group soldiers and march through the city passing custom
chauk , bus station and then stop at Narayan mandir with thousands of people
taking part. Aditiyana was shut and everyone paid their respect at the Prarthana
shabha said deputy Sarpanch MR. Bhimabhai Dulabhai Odedra.

police captures Dharagar gang.

Porbandar's police department have finally captured the two main members
of vehicle thieves. Porbandar's district police inspector Mr. S.p. Rajkumar
received exact information yesterday evening and informed the other police
department in Madhavpur and crime branch inspector Mr. Arvindsinh Zala.
Today police have arrested two men from Erda village bus station police
were fully prepared as two 30 years old men tried to escape on hero Honda
motor bike. Two men well known gangsters from town Dharagar Mohemmad Osman
and Raffiquesa Mamad also known as Babudi were taken to Porbandar Police
station and questioned and admitted that they were the one who was behind
most of the crimes that taken place in the past years in Vadodara , Junagadh,
Valsad, Jamnagar, Dhandhuka, Rajkot and Porbandar. Gangs crime list is
very big says police inspector Mr. Rajkumar.

News coming
from other parts of the district that Kutiyana and Ranavav have recorded
up to 6 inches of rain while in porbandar and Bagvadar had up to 4 inches
of rain and in some parts of district still raining. There is a forecast
for more rain in next 24 hours , some parts of Gujarat had up to 12 inches
of rain. We will bring you more update for Porbandar district as we get

: 6/8/2002. A little relief for farmers as half a inch rain has fallen in
Porbandar's Barda area and Ranavav Taluka. All day today sky was very cloudy and
around 4 PM rain came. This will give farmers a little relief and hope for the

: 30/7/2002. Porbandar district's farmers are waiting for rain and its now
desperate situation for them to save the crops. Porbandar district had around
7 inches of rain this year and since then no rain at all. Some farmers are using
the what ever water they have in the well. If rain don't come in next 5 days then
draught is certain. Porbandar is not the only district but most of the Gujarat

: 30/6/02. Rain has arrived in Porbandar, 5 inches of rain has been recorded
in last two days. Rain is still continuing today through out the district and
another 1 to 2 inches has been recorded in Ranavav and Kutiyana. Rain in Barda
Dungar is putting 2 to 3 inches of water everyday in Khambhala and Fodara Dam,
two Dams already had about 27 feet of water from last year. Aditiyana
had 6 inches of rain in last two days and still raining today. Ranakandorna had
7 inches of rain since Wednesday and Minsar River was flooded also near by villages
Vatroda, Amar, Thoyana, Bholdar, Khijdar and others had very good rain. Ten
year old girl dies from fall. Porbandar
: 20/6/2002. A ten year old girl from cities Sitaramnagar area has died after
falling from second floor of the house. Girl Sonal Masribhai Odedra died at the
scene from head injuries.
Three
people died in road accident.
Porbandar
: 15/7/2002. Three people died in an accident took place near Porbandar on
Porbandar- Madhavpur coastal highway. This happened last night around 22:45 PM
when truck collided with on coming goods carrier rikcha, all three persons who
died were traveling in rikcha were Angat Karshan Garchar age 23 from Divasha,
Prabhudas Nejabhai Daki age 35 and around 17 year old teenager who not yet identified.
Unidentified person was wearing khaki trouser and cream colour long sleeve shirt,
around 4 feet 3 inches tall, if anyone who can identified please contact Police
Inspector MR. N.B. Chavda at Chhaya Police station. Truck driver run away with
truck and police is still looking for him while rikcha driver had miner injuries. Fisherman
died in accident.

named Anil Ranchodbhai from Shubhasnagar area in Porbandar drowned yesterday evening.
Twenty year old Anil was on fishing boat and suddenly boat turned up side down
and Anil drowned. This happened 12 Km away from Porbandar at Kuchhadi village,
Firebrigade came to rescue and Anil's body was found on the rocks near by Khimeshwar
Mahadev mandir. Rameshbhai Kotiya from firebrigade staff said that Anil was dead
at the scene, people in the Shubhashnagar area are in shock this morning.
125 buildings in the city are illegal.

: 26/6/2002. Porbandar Cities some of the 125 buildings are built illegally
without town planning permission. Order from State Government that any of the
illegally built houses or shopping centers will be closed or removed. Buildings
that are built mainly on Kedareshwar road, Hingrajderi road, Liberty road, behind
Suddama Mandir near Dharamshala, Rani Baugh Hoshpital road, Vadi plot, Vagheshwari
plot, Uganda road, around old Fuvaro, opposite Dilip cricket ground and Station
road. These buildings include shops, houses, flats and big shopping centers. Managing
director of Porbandar Grahak Suraksha Mandal Mr. G. R. Tukadia have asked the
District Collector and high court to release the exact names of the buildings
and make the names available in the public to make sure no one buys these buildings
and loose their money, cause some of the owners may try to sell these properties
to recover their money before Government destroys it. Mr. Tukadia is urging anyone
to check all the documents before they purchase any properties in Porbandar City.

is behind vehicle theft in Barda.

Mystery of vehicle thefts in Porbandar City and Barda area is getting worse, within
last few weeks so many hero Honda motorbikes have been stolen from Barda villages
and police have come up with some clues. Police says that Sandhi gang from Dharagar
village near Jamjodhpur is behind this crime and some local people from Porbandar
area have been involved in the gang too, police have found some of the stolen
vehicles sold back in the area for 10,000 rupees. Police chief Mr. Rajkumar said
in the meeting at Kamlabaug police station that some people have seen the gang
members regular at Advana bus station and some of the members are hanging around
in Barda area in a group of 5 to 6 people. District's Congress leader Mr. Samatbhai
Odedra who was present at the meeting have asked the Police chief to catch the
criminals and bring them to justice soon as possible. Porbandar's

and on top of that Gujarat electricity is cutting power supply everyday which
makes condition worse for the people. In Ghed area of Madhavpur, Pata, Chingariya,
Gorsar, Mocha, Mander, Kadach, Barej, Gundariya and Ratiya villages not even getting
8 hours supply. In Saurastra there is a reports of 4 people who have died of heat.

: 10/5/2002. Porbandar's 125 years old Bhavsinhji High school is in talks
to be privatize reports say. Bhavsinhji school is currently running by government
but it seems that government wants to privatize. People are not happy with this
news , students ,parents and teachers are very angry and says that if this school
becomes private then most of the middle class people will not be able to afford
the cost for their children's study. Former student Mr. Ramdebhai Modhvadia have
asked all the students ,teachers and parents to the school on Sunday 12/5/2002
at 10 AM to join the rally. Just recently government has passed 1.25 carore rupees
for damage repair to school that happened due to last years earth quake.

in Porbandar today. Sonia Gandhi arraived by plane at Porbandar airport 10 AM
this morning and went to Mahatma Gandhi's birth place to attend morning prey and
10:30 AM Sonia Gandhi will speak to thousands of people in Porbandar's Dilip cricket
ground. Porbandar has been very important for Congress party over the last 40
years, even Javaharlal Nehru , Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi and many other Congress
Leaders have visited Porbandar District in the past.
Water
supply cut down to half in city. Porbandar
: 26/4/2002. Water supply in Porbandar city has been cut down to half even
there is enough water to supply city for one year. People are not very happy with
city council about this situation. Porbandar , Bokhira and Chhaya area requires
24 lakh gallons water everyday for more then 2 lakh people but water supply department
only releasing about 12 lakh gallons. Porbandar's Fodara dam has 28 feet water
and in khambhala dam there is 16 feet water, this can last for whole year.

district rejoins BJP party. Mr. Rughani who left the BJP party some time ago due

men died in violence. Porbandar
: 14/3/2002. Its now known that 3 Muslim truck drivers from Porbandar district
were killed in last week's violence in Ahmedabad, reports say 3 men were on job
driving in City and caught in violence and killed. One of the man's body has return

council of Porbandar is getting tough now as final reminder notices have been
sent to the people who have not paid house tax ,water bills and other taxes for
many years. Some people owe up to 20,000 rupees for house tax and up to 10,000
rupees for water bills, chief officer and district collector Mr. Dinesh Patel,
tax officer Mr. Dasani and worrent works organizer Mr. Gohil has set up a team
to go door to door and collect the outstanding amount from the people. Suspected
Bangladeshi man been arrested. Porbandar
: 12/2/2002. Bangladeshi man has been arrested in Porbandar City by Police
inspector Mr. Arvindsinh Zala, man was found living in ports old boats. Inspector
Mr. Zala has taken the man on 5 days remand with courts order. Police asked the
32 years old Anwar Hussain Safar Ahmat, how he got to Porbandar ? he said that
he got in from Bangladesh India border near kolkota and then Ajmer, Ahmedabad,
Rajkot and to Porbandar. Man said that he is here to earn money and looking for
a job, but police found Pakistan's Fisherman's Association identity card on him
in response he said he was in Pakistan working there year ago. Is this man really

45 fisherman in Pakistan custody. Porbandar
: 31/1/2002. Just when things are getting about to cool down between India
and Pakistan it started again , this time Porbandar is in headlines. Porbandar's
45 fisherman were in sea near jakhou near Kachh in Indian territory with 8 boats
suddenly Pakistani marine security forces came in to the Indian area and by force
they took fisherman in to Pakistani area and accusing them that they are inside
Pakistani area, they took the man and the boats worth 1 carore rupees to Pakistan.
Reports also say that they have beaten the man, Porbandar and Saurastra Kharva
community are very angry and who can blame them !. Porbandar's dry fish association's
president Mr. Hiralal Mashani has told the State government about these regular
problems from Pakistani side and ask for all the man to be released and increase

"Pravin Sagar" ship sank in Arabian sea. Porbandar
: 29/1/2002. Porbandar's Pravin Sagar ship sank near Muscat in Arabian sea.
Ship was in trouble once it got in to very windy whether condition . Ship worth
one carore rupees left from Okha port yesterday with 400 tons of rice and was
heading towards Aden in north east Africa. All 14 crews of Pravin Sagar was rescued
by Muscat navel helicopter and said to be safe. Usman Ebrahim of Bat Sankhodhara
and captain of the ship said that due to very windy water started coming in we
had no control of ship and we had no choice but to call for a help of near by
Muscat navel helicopter. Relatives of the crew were very happy once they got phone
call from Muscat. Nose,ears
and throat specialist camp in Porbandar. Porbandar
: 22/1/2002. Specialist doctors arrived from Mumbai to have check up camp
for patients who have problems with nose, ears and throat. Camp will take place
in the city from 22/1/2002 to 31/1/2002 and Dr.Rajen Shah of Mumbai's J.J. Hospital's
cancer specialist for nose, ears and throat and Dr Bhanukant Patel of Porbandar
City will attend this camp organized by DR D.R. Kocha smruti trust, Indian medical

Some villages may face water
problems early this year. Porbandar
: 1/1/2002. Porbandar Districts 64 villages may face water crisis even before
the summer approaches. According to the Government's reports that even Porbandar
had the best of the rains in Gujarat State but these 64 villages out of 186 of
the Porbandar District had less rain then the other parts of the District. Government
have put reports together saying that it will require 77,30,000 rupees to deal
with this up coming water problem for 64 villages in the district , government
have excepted the reports and just waiting for the state parliament to pass. Money
will be spent on new water tankers, pipe lines, and other repair works. Woman

: 26/12/2001. Thirty year old Jyotsnaben Hematchand died after she fell from
a tractor. Accident happened on Shubhasnagar road in the City. But Satiben Balubhai
Kadcha made a police case against tractor driver saying it was not an accident.
Fifteen
year old girl rape case in City. Porbandar
: 26/12/2001. Fifteen year old girl Jayaben Khimji Kotari lives in Indiranagar
area of the City has loged a police case against two man known as Parshotam also
known as Anil Lakshmidas Madlani and Nitin also known as Bhuriyo Shivabhai who
lives in Birla area of the City. This happened when girl Jayaben went to get drinking
water from Parshotam's house and he took her upstairs with some excuse and raped
her twice in hour and fifteen minutes but Nitin did not take part in the rape
as he was standing at the door to lookout if someone comes. Police inspector Mr
Makvana is doing further investigation. Gram

minister will visit Porbandar District on 6th and 7th of December 2001.

States Chief minister Mr Narendra Modi is coming to Porbandar District for two
days visit . On 6th of December he will arrive at 4 pm by helicopter at vartu-2
water dam. He will open the vartu-2 ,Porbandar's Barda areas 50 carore rupees
water dam after that Chief Minister will travel to Advana village by helicopter
due to bad road conditions. In Advana he will do the opening of newly made 66
kilowatts electricity sub station. After 30 minutes stop at advana he will travel
by car to village Bharvada where he will do the opening ceremony of new houses
been built by london based Ramkrishna mission. Chif
Minister will travel to Bokhira where he will join BJPs young members rally ,visiting
Kirti Mandir (Mahatma Gandhi's birth place). Also joining Kharva Communities at
Panchayat Mandir,meeting with police department and at 9.30pm he will give speech
to the districts party members. On next day he will travel to Ranavav and Kutiyana
.Porbandar Districts Congress party leaders are planing a "rasta roko aandolan"
at Bagvadar village near high school .This rally is led by Districts party leader

No fire works after 10 pm
in Porbandar.

People of
Porbandar City will not be able to put up any fire works after 10 pm every night
over this year's Diwali festivals.Porbandar District's Collector Mr Ghodasara
said that people will able to enjoy the fire works during the hours from 6pm to
10pm every evening. Also there is a ban to display any fire works near any hospitals
or religious places. But the question is how will 1500 police control Porbandar's
150,000 public. Any

years. Some employees are still waiting for their salaries. Sometime ago employees
requested the former Chief Minister Mr Keshu Bhai Patel to solve the problem and

State has now a new Chief Minister since last sunday , a letter was sent to the
Chief Minister by Porbandar Districts Panchayat Pramukh and Maharana textile union

Porbandar
police have captured imported alcohol near Ranavav and in Porbandar City on Friday.
Ranavav police sub inspector Kiritsinh n. Gohil and staff received some information
on Friday night and raided in one of the farm in Bhod Village near Ranavav and
found imported alcohol worth Rs 60,000. Police have also arrested a man Lalji
Raval also known as lala who was looking after the farm. Police said another man
known as Keshu Karshan Maher ran away. While gathering more information from the
captured man lala Ranavav police informed Porbandar police inspector Chovdhri
and Udhyognagar police staff , who then went to near by Ratanpar Village and raided
suspected person Bhima Kandha Odedra's house , here police found more imported
alcohol worth Rs 2,47,200. Police found 80 boxes of alcohol containing 2,424 bottles
of spirits and 480 bottles of beer. Bhima Kandha Odedra was not present at the
time but police have arrested two of his brothers Mandan Kandha Odedra and Lakha
Kandha Odedra. Having more investigation police have arrested an another
man Rajnikant Gorthan Vanand also known as Raju from Porbandar City believed to
be the person who brought the alcohol from Daman .Police say Raju was involved
in same crime before. With more information police are hoping to get the all network
of suppliers of imported alcohol around Keshod,Veravad,Junagadh
and Bhanvad Cities.
Fraud
case .
Porbandar : 26/12/2001. Fraud case has been registered in the police by Bhikhubahi
Samji Salet. Two man Iliyas and Aarif Musa promised Mr Bhikhubhai that they will
get him a job in Dubai and it will cost him 70 thousand rupees but after getting
the the money they have run away. Police inspector Mr jala who is looking in to
the case said that two man also done the same thing against 34 other peoples with
collecting 16,00,000 rupees and said that one of the man Aarif's father Musa Ishmail

Gujarat Chief Minister in Kutiyana today.
Kutiyana : 3/10/2002.
Gujarat State Chief Minister MR. Narendra Modi was
in Kutiyana today, MR. Modi was here to inaugurate Saran water project.
MR. Modi was accompanied by Gujarat State water Minister MR. Babubhai
Bokhiria, Porbandar elect MP MR. Gorthanbhai Javia, deputy MR. Karshanbhai
Odedra, Porbandar District Collector MR. Ghodsara and Porbandar District
Panchayat President MR. Rajshibhai Parmar. Security was very tight and
well organized by district police Chief MR. Rajkumar and rest of the work
was maintain by Taluka President MR. Rambhai Odedra.
This water project will be on River Sashan near Khunpar village, this
water dam will be with 414 meter long water release doors , there will
be 41 doors and once its ready it will hold water in 107 hector land.
This dam will hold enough water to supply 1016 hector land and farmers
from Khunpur, Helabeli, Teri and Gakoran chodha will benefit.

Father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi's 133rd birthday today , to give Shradhanjli
to Mahatma there was a prathna sabha was held at Kirti Mandir this morning.
Cheif Minister of Gujarat State MR. Narendrabhai Modi came to Porbandar
with State Minister Babubhai Bokhiriya. Prarthana was broadcasted live
on radio from 7:15 AM to 8:00 AM.

Everyone in Porbandar is talking about unusual love story of a 45 year
old man and a 24 year old girl. Muslim doctor who has surgery near Kamlabaug
and a 24 year old girl who works in the surgery as nurse, some time ago
both fall in love and run away. Girl's father made a police complain about
girl running away, after few days later both returned and everything cool
down after both community got together and talked. Just week ago both
run away again and girl's father Narendrabhai made police complaint but
this time both returned to police station before police starts looking
for them. Forty five year old man Amirul Huk and twenty four year old
girl Trupti who is from Khatri community presented marriage certificate
that they are now married and girl Trupti has changed the religion and
name as she is now known as Aayesha.
Bharatbhai Odedra donates his own pension money to late Kishor Dodia.

Gujarat states former cabinet minister MR. Bharatbhai Odedra have decided
that he will donate 1500 Rupees to late Kishor Dodia's family every month.
Kishor Dodia who was Indian soldier in Kashmir and died during fighting
with terrorists. Bharatbhai Odedra who was elected MP from Porbandar Congress
party for five years. Bharatbhai Odedra who receives 3000 rupees Government

A
fisherman dies at sea. Porebandar
: 9/8/2002. Porbandar's fisherman Kharva Ramjibhai Gohil died when his fishing
boat caught in bad weather near Porbandar. Small fishing boat with just 2 men
went for fishing and when big wave came in a very windy condition boat turned
over and 45 year old man Ramji Gohil died while second man 40 year old Ashok Dhanji
survived and is in hospital with injuries. Ramji Gohil's body was found this morning
by Narvai Mataji's Temple near Odadar village. Building

: 7/7/2002. A seventy year old building in the city has collapse but no one
was injured. This happened on 5th July at 9.30 in the morning, building named
Narendra Bhuvan was on Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel road. This seventy year old building
known as PG Gandhi Delo was damaged in last years earthquake and was reported
to local authority by social worker Mr. Dinesh Thanky but no one repaired or done
anything about it. Around seventy people who where renting this building were

brave soldier dies in Kashmir. Porbandar
: 3/8/2002. Once again there attack by the terrorists from across the border
in Kashmir state and taking another life of an Indian soldier this time brave
soldier from Porbandar City. On 1st of August in Rajori district of Kashmir State
19 terrorists came from across the border and started firing on Muslim community
who lives in the area, Indian soldiers were present and fired back at them in
this group of brave soldiers one of them was 30 years old Kishor Mepabhai Dodiya.
In the fighting Kishor was hit by several bullets fired by terrorists but Porbandar's
brave man kept on fighting at them while he was injured he killed 6 of the terrorist
and gave his life for his country. Kishor's body was flown to Ahemdabad
by Indian Army plane with full respect and then to Porbandar on the road. In The
City today thousands of People joined to his final journey to the sea side where
he was cremated. People were coming in thousands at Mepabhai's house Kishor's
father who lives near Patel oil mill in Kadiya plot. Kishor leaves behind
his family members father Mepabhai Bhagat Dodiya, mother Deviben, wife Hansaben,
younger brother and two year old daughter. Porbandar's most of the leading
politicians and leaders were present at Mepabhai's house. Police Chief of Porbandar
district Mr. Rajkumar with other police officers gave guard of honour. District
collector Mr. Dineshbhai Patel, District Panchayat Pramukh Mr. Rajshibhai Parmar,

Porbandar's history this is the second soldier to die in Kashmir after Maher java
mard Nagarjun Sisodia gave his life for country in 1971 when he died in war against

:8/6/2002. Porbandar police have arrested a man named Babu Ramjanjani from
Orissa state who was walking around near Liberty police line. Police have found
1.75 Kg Ganja from Babu. Bagvadar's
Government Hospital needs repairing.
Bagvadar
: 8/6/2002. Nearest Hospital for Barda area at Bagvadar is in need of repairing.
Bagvadar is Porbandar's one of three talukas and is located in the center of Barda
area. The Hospital was damaged in the earthquake last year, since then little
repair work has been done but lot more needs doing. Taluka's Junior Congress Leader
Mr. Karabhai Godhania has written to District Collector that if the repair is
not done urgently then water will leak in the building during the rainy season.
Some of the Government officials have told in the past that building is not worth
repairing and not to use but people of Bagvadar have no choice but to carry on

: 20/6/2002. A woman worker has died in Birla factory after having an electric
shock. Factory worker Sitaben Tuljaprashad was working in Birla factory and went
do get drinking water from water cooler and was electrocuted. Police is investigating

Police found vehicle thief. Porbandar
: 6/6/2002. After so many weeks Bagvadar police have found one member of vehicle
theft gang, after special request to District police Chief Mr. Rajkumar from District's
Congress president Mr. Shamatbhai Odedra asked the police to find the thieves
behind the vehicle theft in Barda area soon as possible. In response police only
took 3 days and today a man Bhima Veja also known as Rukhad was arrested at Advana
village. Twenty year old Bhima Veja said that he did steal 3 motorbikes Hero Honda
from Jamnagar and 1 from village , Bhima Veja was in prison some time ago for
truck theft from Kutiyana, Bhima Veja used to steal vehicles from Porbandar and
Barda villages and selling back to people in the area. Police sub inspector Mr.
V. N. Chauhan from Bagvadar is investigating further on this case. Porbandar's
Fishermen have been told not to go in the sea. Porbandar
: 21/5/2002. Porbandar's fishermen have been told not to go in the sea for
two months. Order given by district's collector and magistrate to Porbandar's
three thousand fishermen. Every year so many fishermen gets in trouble with bad
weather while they are at sea. Collector said that when some of the fishermen
go too far in to the sea so they don't get any radio contact. June and July two
months when lot of bad weather takes place around Porbandar sea. District magistrate
said that no one will be able to go in the sea from 24th May for two month and
if anyone who breaks the law will be punished under the Indian code of 188.
New
water supply Pipeline for City.

: 12/5/2002. Government fund of 27 carore 27 lakh rupees is being spent on
laying new water suply pipeline for Porbandar City. This pipeline is 27 mile long
from Fodara water dam and will take around 9 to 10 months to complete. Porbandar
City requires about 25 lakh gallons of water daily , with this new pipeline Cities

: 17/5/2002. A police report has been made by 30 year old woman Nitaben Hashmukhbhai
Shamji. Nitaben who lives near water tank (pani no kotho) between Bokhira and
Jubeeli said that she was raped and threaten by 23 year old man. Nitaben said
that incident took place yesterday 2 PM when man named Raju truck driver took
woman in near by empty house and raped and threaten her that not to tell anyone

: 2/5/2002. Porbandar's Madhav Prashad fishing boat worth 15 lakhs rupees
sank in sea on 28th April, news released by Porbandar's fisherman association
president Mr Jivatbhai Jungi. Mr Jungi said boat with 5 people on board went in
the sea for fishing and suddenly water started coming in from underneath. All
five man were rescued by another boat Puran Prashad. This is the 5th boat gone
down in last 5 months. State

Gujarat State minister Mr. Babubhai Bokhiriya will be on tour of Porbandar district
form 11/4/2002 to 16/4/2002. Mr. Bokhiriya will visit villages with problems like
water, electricity and food ,on his six days tour he will try and visit as many
villages he can . Mr. Bokhiriya will have government officers and some BJP leaders

exams, thousands of students taking part in this years exams and as usual there
are a few who decides to do it easy way in another way of saying is cheating.
On the forth day of the exams 155 cheating cases were reported in Saurastra region
and 9 were reported from Porbandar District. 6 students were caught from standard
10 and 3 from standard 12 . The checking squads are in full force across the Gujarat
State checking each and every schools and colleges where exams are taking place.
Each day students are sitting in one subject for 3 hours of time given for exam

body of a man found in sea.

: 8/4/2002. Body of a 38 year old man has been found in the sea near Subhashnagar
road of the city. According to police reports body has been in the water for around
4 days and in a bad condition, the man was wearing cream colour clothes and has
a lord Shiva's locket attached to a black string around his neck. For further

: 26/3/2002. Once again Porbandar horse show took place this year and attracted
lots of people with so many different horses like Manki, Khirani, Harni and Shingani.
Around 68 horses took part in this years show in different type on race and walking
style. Horse show was organised by Porbandar horse breeders association, special
guests district colector, Mr B.H.Ghodasara, Chief Police,Mr. S.P.Rajkumar and
Gujarat , Kathiyavad and Marvadi horse breeders association chairmen from Gondal
Mr Ghanshyam Maharaj. Winners were given prices and medals, best Kathiyavadi
male horse came number one owned by Porbandar's Rjeshbhai Jadeja and best Kathiyavadi
female horse was won by Kuchadiya Arjanbhai from Fatana. Best young male horse
was won by Meghnathi Manhargiri and best young female horse was won by Rajshibhai

proposals for Porbandar have been passed by nagar palika. Porbandar

The budget proposals for Porbandar have been passed by
the respective nagar palika, with thrust on development work like roads, drinking
water and infrastructural facilities. Porbandar nagarpalika president Nirmalaben
Vaghela presented a Rs 4.61 crore deficit budget in the general board, which was
passed. The work on the underground sewage line, which was in progress,
continues to haunt the Porbandar nagarpalika and despite 50 years of planning,
the scheme has not been completed. Vaghela said that financial allocation worth
Rs 1.17 crore has been made for the underground sewage project and work in half
of the city would be completed by the end of the next financial year. The second
half would be completed after the money is received under the Vajpayeenagar Development
Scheme and the entire project would be completed at a cost of Rs 2.75 crore.
Money has also been allocated for development work for the construction of
a shopping centre, an overhead tank for water storage, besides better collection
of water and house tax. With the abolition of octroi from the nagar palikas, they
now depend entirely on government aid and loans. All developmental work and basic
amenities like roads, electricity, water supply and sewage lines depend on the
grants that flow from the state government. Free

on her 58th death anniversary. Kasturba was born in april 1869 and died in 22
February 1944, born in a small family father Gokuldas Makanji a small shop owner
in Porbandar. With little education Kasturba got married to Mohandas Karamchand
Gandhi at the age of 13. Kasturba Mahila Mandal leader Puspaben Thanki asked everyone

who has their own house, vehicle and telephone will have to fill in new income
tax form 2-c now by march 2002, person who refuses to fill in will end up with

as the new d.s.p. Mr. Rajkumar will order people to move any one who is holding
a little "rekdis" and shops on the footpath. City has a problem as people have
to walk on to the road due to blocked footpath and this causes the problem to
traffics. Also people who drops food for the animals is the biggest problem, hundreds
of animals are running around the city on the roads is holding traffics or causing
trouble to young kids who goes to schools in the morning, people have to stop
feeding these animals and owners of the animals will have to keep them off the
streets. In Kamlabaug area out side MEM school every morning nearly 50 to 60 animals
hanging around and parents have to carry a stick or some kind of protective weapons
to stay safe from these animals same problems are at also at station road, TV

more tense the Indian army is on high alert in Gujarat State. All three ,navy
,air and ground troops are ready 90 miles in and around Porbandar Sea, also anti
aircraft guns and missile launchers have taken the position and two of the submarines
have been deployed near Porbander Sea. Army says that Porbandar's all whether
port is open all round the year and is very important to the Country. As you know
Porbandar and Okha City two are the nearest to the Pakistani Karachi port . Government
have given full protection to all the big factories by placing arm forces mainly
at near by oil terminals at Vadinar and reliance at Khavdi in Jamnagar District

Mr Premjibhai Khokhra has sent letter requesting District Costguard Commander
to send help to save the six man and 12,00,000 rupees worth fishing boat as some
believe that six man may not have enough food and drinking water.

who was forced to marry by her parents run away from Porbandar City on wedding
day . Maher girl who is believed to be in love with Maher guy living in London
,who told her to run away and get to Mumbai so he can make an arrangement for
her to get to London. Parents of the girl reported to the police that she is missing
but in the mean time she already departed to Mumbai via Rajkot airport, no names
were given by police for legal reason
Police officers injured in Porbander
Porbander : 6/12/2001 Eleven police officers
have been injured whilst traveling in the vehicle which turned over on a Birla
Road bend near Indiranagar. This happened whilst the Officers where traveling
to Order Village for shooting practice. Assistant Sub Inspector Majit Sinh, the
driver Chandu Bhai and Nine officers were taken to hospital for minor injuries

A
resident of Bakharla village near Porbander, Lakhiben Odedra
was beaten up by some opposite party. This was due to Lakhi ben Odedra whom wanted
to file post for sarpanch from the Bakharla village. Gujarat State Congress party
leader Amarsinh Chaudhary told the news media that the appositions had sent their
men to her place and broke Lakhiben's limbs with an iron pipe, this has been seen
by the primary health center. The complaint was lodged in this regard but when
contacting police control room that such an incident has been reported but
not lodged. Also it has been alleged that gang members have been patrolling
villages of Adityana, Boricha and Bakharla with guns and swords to ensure that
no one files nominations. Mr Chaudry said it is unfortunate that the chief minister
is the contemplating to contest elections from a constituency where such hooliganism
exists. Chaudhary said that such complaints have also come from other districts,
and criticised the BJP for violating the election code of conduct for launching
projects and schemes after the code came into effect. He said the Congress has
filed complaints with the state election commission. Everyone from the chief minister
to other ministers were violating this code, he added.

Porbandar : 4/10/2001. Unconfirmed
reports say that build up to the attack on terrorism in Afghanistan by US army,
3 of their ships have arrived in the Indian ocean just 20 miles from Porbandar
City, these reports have not been confirmed by Indian government yet. Some reports
say that US navy had talks with Indian airforce based in Jamnagar District just
120 km away from Porbandar City. As you may know that Porbandar and Jamnagar is
not far from border with Pakistan. More update will available as we get it.
