Pobandar is one of Gujarat States 25 districts,located on the west coast of an Arabian sea in Indian State of Gujarat. Around 1309 km away from Indian capital City NewDelhi and 939 km away from Mumbai and connected by air,train,road and sea. Porbandar district is full of farming. Porbandar City has population around 180 000. District has 3 sub districts (Talukas) Porbander, Kutiyana, Ranavav and has 184 villages.

Porbandar has very old history going back about 5000 years. Before Porbandar was known as Sudamapuri,named after lord Krishna's childhood friend Sudama. Now days Porbandar is very well known as birth place of Mahatma
Gandhi the father of nation.

People of Porbandar
Porbandar City's people mostly come from Maher, Kharva, Lohana and Bardai Brahman communities. Maher community belongs to farming and comes from Barda and Sarath area . While Kharva community are in to fishing business and mainly based in Porbandar City. Lohana and Brahman community are in to shops and other businesses.
